| my flat is in the erster Hinterhof, accessed over a staircase in the court yard;
there is a Turkish bakery next door, and a supermarket and a coffee and shisha bar are 100 m away; a swimming pool is 15 minutes and the Hauptbahnhof (= Berlin's spectacular new main station) 25 minutes away on foot; the road outside is verkehrsberuhigt, so the speed limit is 7 km/h (– i got fined € 35 once for driving 22 km/h, so careful!)

the bathroom |
there is a shower stall, still with a dolphin curtain, on the right;
the house was originally built in 1904, and then of course rebuilt after ww II, so the bathroom seems to have been made from what used to be a larger kitchen: hence the odd shapes of both; some months after buying the place, i had a new toilet – replacing an old German-style one – and a new Therme (= gas-heating and hot water boiler) installed. |

sorry, the pictures have not come out well, it was a bit dark that morning;
the sofa-beds are actually dark grey, almost black, and fold out into beds of 140x200cm, the carpet is light grey, the floor very uneven; the view out of the window, of the other side of the courtyard, also explains the layout of my apartment; the courtyard is better laied out now, with a rack where i put my new bike.
